Welcome to the international conference #YouthMediaLife 2021!

29 March – 1 April 2021 at the University of Vienna

Our four-day conference will bring together scholars from a range of disciplines to discuss topics concerning young people's media lifeworlds: their relationships, their learning, and their identity formations in the context of their media practices.

In light of the Covid19-Pandemic, related travel restrictions and health concerns, we have had to change plans several times but are now committed to organising an online conference which enables participants to present papers, watch pre-recorded presentations, discuss each other’s work and ideas, connect with one another over a cup of coffee (bring your own!) and make the most of a number of conference activities. We want this conference to become the best possible experience for everyone involved!

We have put together a programme of over 100 papers, panels and pre-recorded presentations. Susanne Baumgartner (Amsterdam University, The Netherlands), Rodney Jones (University of Reading, UK), Axel Krommer (University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany) and Dafna Lemish (Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA), our wonderful keynote speakers, have all agreed to deliver their contributions online and participate in discussions.

The conference is organised and funded by the interdisciplinary research platform #YouthMediaLife at the University of Vienna. The academic committee consists of the core team members of the platform. Registration is now open!

We look forward to welcoming you to #YouthMediaLife 2021!
